ONE YEAR LATER... Today marks the one year since our lives forever changed! Madison and I celebrated by traveling to St.Louis for clinic, Madison blew out her pants so got a new outfit, and decided naps were not needed. Aunt Kathy made Madison her favorite meal (spaghetti) and we all are heading to bed early! I strung all of Madison's beads from the past year and counted them... An emotional process thinking about all she has been through. The length of the beads is a little over 18 feet. Each bead symbolizes a different part of her journey. The beads symbolize the following: 27: Blood Transfusions 5: Bone Marrow Aspirations 3: Central Line Inserts 1: Central Line Out 10: Days of Chemo 79: visits to the Costas Center 12: Visits from Child Life 5: ER Visits 25: Days with a fever 7- Home nurse visits (apartment and home) 3-Major Surgeries 18- Days with continuous pain meds 112: Days in the hospital 34: Pokes 45: Pt/Ot in the hospital 17: Really Bad Days 15: Tests/Scans 1: Bone Marrow Transplant 1:G-button placement 58: Pt/Ot at home 203: Good Days 4:Speech at home 7:DT at home 12:Dietitian visits hospital and home Thank you for all your love and prayers this past year! Thank you God for giving us love, peace, and determination! ~Matthew 6:34
