Recently, I heard a statistic that 93% of marriages where a child is terminally ill resulted in divorce. This raised my curiosity so I researched a little more... to no surprise when a marriage is faced with a trial, change, or challenge the marriage is shaken. Ryan and I don't have a perfect marriage, but we fight for one another! We have been together for 17 years and married for 10 years... when I look through pictures this is what I see.. Clearly we don't look exactly the same as we did when we got together. Our feelings towards one another aren't the same as when we first started dating.... There is lots that is different, but one BIG thing that is the same is God's role in our marriage! Marriage takes THREE! God's guidance, peace, grace, and love is essential! Marriage takes work! It doesn't matter if you love where your marriage is at going into 2017 or just unsure on your marriage. In both situations it takes work, investment, and love! Ryan and I will be attending a marriage conference that Metro Community Church is offering. The topic is on communication. It is an overnight stay and I have heard only wonderful things! "Speaking from the Heart" is a weekend marriage retreat devoted to understanding the dynamics of emotional communication and connection. Couples will be given clear direction on how to boost their emotional intimacy and grow in their communication insight and skill. Couples leave the retreat with greater confidence on how to consistently connect with their spouse at a deeper level. Marriage is work, but as you said it very important for it to be between 3, you, your spouse and most of all God. We have found in different medical environments that some try to not only to impose those statistics on your marriage as if that is all that can happen but also try to interfere with your marriage by trying to undermine the decisions that have been made within the marriage regarding those very difficult decisions that you as a couple have made about things they may administer care for but don't have to live with, deal with and only understand on one plane.
