Summer is on the horizon! The month of May has started with baseball practices, field trips, and summer school! Wednesday was a BIG day for Madison! I removed her g-button! She stated, “Momma, will you be my doctor?” She can now swing and go down the slide on her belly!
We we had a celebratory swim tonight! Celebrating life, remission, and family! ❤️ June will be filled with her yearly post-transplant exams at Cardinal Glennon, but expecting only good news!❤️

A song came on the radio this morning. The rain was pouring down as I was praying. A family close to Ryan and I lost their son over the weekend... As the song continued, my heart was filled with the holy spirit. I have NO explanation for suffering, but know that even when it hurts I will praise God! Life can hurt. The burdens and grief that others feel is numbing and painful. May we all lay the hurt at the feet of Jesus! Life is short, but more importantly we are the light to those that need the Lord! Take this mountain weight Take these ocean tears Hold me through the trial Come like hope again Even when the fight seems lost I'll praise you Even when it hurts like hell I'll praise you Even when it makes no sense to sing Louder then I'll sing your praise Is God calling you?
When Madison was sick and we were living in the hospital; God was loud and clear he wanted me to get a master’s degree in counseling. With my focus being on Madison, I knew when God was ready for me to take the first step I would know. Last Spring, with Madison’s therapy coming to an end in June; Ryan asked, “God is ready are you going to listen?” Since last summer, I have been a full time graduate student. Learning and growing with each passing class.God has continued to open one door after another confirming his plan. Please don’t assume it’s been easy for doing God’s will has challenges, but God has been my assurance and foundation. On Wednesday, I took the call to become the K-8 Certified School Counselor Intern in the South Central School District. At the end of summer, I will have six classes left at Eastern so will be continuing my education and graduating in the Spring of 2019. At that point I will have both my school counseling license and LPC. I am very excited and thrilled about the road ahead and answering God’s call.Thank you for all the prayers and support. My plan for the day was school physicals for Harrison and Maebry then off to the park... God's plan was physicals for Harrison and Maebry, blood-work for Madison, and a trip to STL...
All it takes is one second for your life to change course. Thank you God for being in the miracle business! God is the only one who knows what the next minute will hold. I’m continually reminded of the power of prayer! Standing in the hallway of the PICU floor today (with friends who have become family) the song Hungry by Kathryn Scott came to my heart. As I stood in the hallway my heart was singing! May we all be humble and vulnerable to meet those we love wherever God may have them in their life.
Lash Update: First, we thank God every single day for good health! One of the many things we don’t take for granted. Minus the flu viruses we have stayed healthy. The kids are ready for Spring! Ready to play outside, go to the park, and wear shorts. I feel the winter weather wasn’t bad, but the flu season... that’s another story. May the last few weeks of March find your family healthy. I want to leave with a devotion from this week that has carried me through... “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10 NIV). God put us on Earth to do a certain work that only we can do. Ephesians says that God created us to do good works and that he planned in advance what we would spend our lives doing. However, he didn’t plan for us to do that work alone. We need people to work with us. You know the feeling you get when you do too much work on your own. You get exhausted and burned out. Why? Because you’re trying to do your work alone, while God never meant for it to be that way. In Ecclesiastes 4:9, God tells us, “Two people are better than one, because they get more done by working together” (NCV). When you work as a team, you get so much more done. Plus, having good teammates alongside you is a whole lot more fun and less tiring! Picture it this way: Each of us is like a snowflake. On our own, we can’t make a big difference. However, when one fragile snowflake sticks with a lot of other snowflakes, they can stop traffic. Like snowflakes, we can make a big difference if we work together, each one of us simply doing our small part. Did you know that when we work together here on Earth, we’re actually practicing for eternity? In Heaven, we will all have to work, but each of us will have just a small piece of work, so we’ll never get overloaded or tired. Though no one will carry a heavy burden as each one of us does our small part, all the work will still get done. As you walk through life, remember that you’re not supposed to do everything on your own. You need other people to walk alongside you, and other people also need you. As you share the burden of your work with fellow Christians, you’ll find that you actually accomplish more for the glory of God. |
